Peter was born and raised in a small village in Cambridgeshire, England. His first experience with photography was in his own homemade darkroom in his parents’ garage and that was where he first fell in love. Since then Peter has achieved two BA’s in Photography in both the UK and Australia, where he now lives. He has set up and run two photographic studios and has successfully forayed into the world of moving image, directing TVC’s and commercials alongside his photographic work.
Peter is comfortable working with large, technically challenging projects just as much as he is simply with a camera and available light. He has more recently come full-circle to his first love of analogue photography and controlling natural light. For Peter, this approach to simplifying photography means he is able to spend more time seeking out the beauty in the everyday, finding painterly compositions, colour and form all whilst maintaining the connection with the subject.
With an expansive range of skills, Peter is just as comfortable in a studio and shooting digitally as he is with analogue cameras. With the necessarily constructed image for commercial work, Peter is able to switch seamlessly from the ‘’image taker’ to the ‘image maker.’ As Peter predominantly photographs people, his approach to photographing static subjects is imbued with the same sense nuance and investigation.
